As a November baby I am proud to say that fall is my favorite season. Not only because my birthday falls within the walls of autumn, but also because of the many wonderful things associated with it. While I don’t countdown the days until Halloween in August, I am super excited to smell the crispness of a beautiful fall morning.
Boots: Fall means cute boots. Whether you prefer short, mid-calf or over-the-knee, boots are the perfect accessory for autumn. They keep you warm and stylish, I mean what more can you ask for?!
Outerwear (hats, scarves, cardigans, sweaters): Did someone say, "LAYERS!?" What is better than being able to layer on all of the accessories that you want without worrying about getting too hot? From scarves to sweaters and beanies, fall allows us a little extra creative license in the fashion department.
Nature is changing all around us: If you are lucky enough to live in a city that has real fall weather, you get the honor of watching nature go through one of the most beautiful changes. From the change in the leaves to the the absence of humidity in the air, the season ushers in beautiful hues of golds, reds and yellows.
The food (soups, stews, drinks): Most people think fall and picture girls in uggs and leggings ordering their grande PSL (pumpkin spiced lattes). While a great PSL can definitely add a pep in your step, fall makes me think of hot bowl of stews, soups and chili that can fill you right up.
Change is inevitable: I always associate fall with change. Whether it’s acknowledging a new school year, or thinking of what I have done differently this year. When I think of autumn, I think of how important it is to never settle: to avoid complacency and to always welcome new experiences with arms wide open.
What are your favorite things about fall?
Five girls took a trip to the tip of Long Island, in New York, Sag Harbor to be exact, to get away from the city and enjoy the final days of summer. We rented a car and left the hustle and bustle of Manhattan with our weekenders and some groceries for Saturday morning breakfast; with no real plans or expectations in mind. We decided to simply enjoy each other’s company and what the weekend would bring. What we didn’t realize is how much we needed this ‘Summer Sayonara’.
For all of us, this summer was spent traveling the globe and in constant motion. Our weekend trip to Sag Harbor allowed us to ride around suburbia with our windows down, enjoying the fresh summer air, and the beauty of this water-side town. We cooked, laughed and shared stories that normally, the hustle and bustle of everyday life wouldn’t allow in a normal conversation. We sipped Rosé at the energetic Wolffer Estates Wine Stand, with live music, a vibrant crowd and forgot about all of our worries and to-do lists. It was such a perfect way to say goodbye to the craziness of summer ’17.
We all need a reset at times, moments where we stop running for a second and take in everything around us (both literally and figuratively). As fearless men and women we tend to go until we can’t any more, however if we keep running, one day we’ll find ourselves on empty. If you haven’t yet, no worries--there’s still time.
How will you say Goodbye to Summer ’17?
Three women going through life.
