Find yourself in New York City and looking for something to do? Don’t fret because I’ve got you covered! There’s a new show at the Golden Theatre on Broadway called Eclipsed, which stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and an all-female cast--- Pascale Armond, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jab, and Seycon Sengbloh (yes girls rule!). Eclipsed tells the story of five amazing women brought together by the tragic civil war in Liberia. Due to their circumstances, they built a close-knit relationship with each other, which became essential to their survival.
I’ve been dying to see this play since it came to Broadway earlier this year, and finally over memorial day weekend my friends and I got the opportunity to do just that. The acting was phenomenal and Lupita Nyong’o was a sight to see. Watching every scene in this play gave me chills; I was left crying and laughing at the same time. Eclipsed did an outstanding job in shedding a light on the experiences of women during wars, and the instrumental role they play in bringing about and inspiring change. In order to not to give the entire play out, let’s just say Eclipsed is a hidden gem on Broadway and definitely a must see for anyone interested!
