Self care is a topic that we are now seeing as ‘popular’. It’s en vogue to preach self care but not live it. We are so busy talking about how important it is to slow down that we don’t actually do it. So, you acknowledge the need for self care but can’t find a way to pull yourself from work? When was the last time you said to yourself - ‘I deserve a trip’? Not out of entitlement, but out of a realization that you too may simply need to take a step back from the noise. I always looked at my dad growing up and thought why doesn’t he ever take a break? He was always working. I didn’t get it … until I started working. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in the ‘busy’ lifestyle and humble brag about how ‘busy’ we are this weekend or how ‘crazy’ work is becoming but never make any lifestyle changes to rectify this abnormality. With this in mind, our team has come up with easy and practical locations to retreat to when you feel as though life is taking over and you are losing the reins. These locations are ideal for a quick getaway especially if you are on the East Coast. If you aren’t on the East Coast, think beaches, historical sites or even taking a scheduled daily walk. An escape does not equate to an expensive holiday. Look around your neighborhood or city and see what is in your area and then go! The worst part about a plan is never executing it.
Where are yours, and what do you do as a retreat from the ‘busyness’ in your life?
