You can only meet new people when you step out of your comfort zone and try something new. We are often afraid of our shadow so we create these blockades that prevent us from truly seeing and enjoying what’s around us. It's quite obvious that by removing your 'barriers' I.e. phones, books, friends you can have a completely different experience. However, always easier said than done.
Remember that conference that you were yearning to attend but none of your friends wanted to tag along? Or what about that networking event when you co-worker backed out last minute? How many times have you missed out on possibly great connections because you decided to stay home instead of attending the event alone?
Sometimes the only way to expand and grow is by go out on the ledge alone and seeing what's out there. In a time where group think can be a very deceiving precedent, checking out something that interests you alone will allow you to learn and experience more. Being fearless is about testing your limits and trying things that may give you a little anxiety at first. Whether it's going to a networking event or a spoken word open mic, you never know who or what you'll find!
When was the last time you went to an event stag and what was the outcome?
Three women going through life.
