On July 22nd my friends and I trekked to the Barclay Center in Brooklyn to watch history being made. One Africa Music Fest brought out Africa’s tops music entertainers who wowed the crowd with their energy and talent. Watching my favorite afrobeats artists singing and dancing the night away to my favorite songs left me with a huge sense of pride in my culture. I kept thinking, “ Finally, we made it!”. The arena was filled to capacity, making it a big budget production. Each artist commanded the stage when they performed and definitely championed the cause of promoting African pop culture in the Western world. My favorite moment was looking out in the crowd and seeing a mixture of white, black and brown faces all singing the words to their favorite african songs, it was definitely a sight to see! All in all, my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and hope to make this an annual event to attend! A Huge s/o to Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, Flavour, Davido and the rest for giving us our entire life!
Three women going through life.
