Do you have a full length mirror in your home and are you alone? If yes, strip down to undergarments. If not, close your bedroom door, strip down and stand in front of your computer camera so you can see yourself. What do you see? How do you feel? How quickly did you cover yourself up? Did you admire your body or point out every roll, stretch mark, or imperfection?
As I’ve gotten older, I have learned how important it is to truly love my body, regardless of the things I want to change about it. Loving every dimple, stretch mark and muscle, while learning the curves of my body has been a rewarding struggle. We are constantly bombarded with images of what ‘perfection’ looks like. Whether it’s a beautiful curvaceous woman without a blemish in sight, or a beautiful slim woman that looks great in everything she puts on. We see these images and wonder, why don’t we look like that? The thing is, you do. I don’t care if your clothes tell you that you’re a size 22 or 2 you can only be as perfect as your see yourself.
Stripping down to the bare minimum is a way to build up your confidence in order to learn to love the parts of you that you don’t find so beautiful. I often say, “You are the only person that knows you, no one can tell you things about yourself that you don’t already know.”, that includes things about your body. Check yourself out at least once a week, get comfortable being naked and loving every part of you. The confidence you’ll build will shine without you even noticing. Whether it’s once a week or article of clothing by article of clothing just try getting there. So you can define what summertime fine looks like.
