This is the first post of a series on Tips to Planning the Ultimate Girls Trip.
First things first, to have the ultimate girls trip, you need the right set of friends. So let’s get quickly through the types of girls that are part of a girls’ trip.
1. The planner
This is the girl who starts setting the itinerary, figuring out hotel room rates and beach locations. She wants to know who can come as soon as possible so that she can ensure that the group has the best time. She also gets upset the easiest. Didn’t you see the group text and email with payment details? Why are you even coming when you can’t follow the simple instructions on submitting your favorite thing to do on vacation so that the planner can take it into consideration? The planner lives for deadlines and agreements. Don’t add someone new when she has already found the perfect AirBnB that fit the ‘original’ group just right. The planner is the one that is most upset at the end of a trip if the excursions sucked. However, nothing like a well-executed trip to make the planner feel accomplished. Her level of fun is associated with how well the plans she laid were executed. Are you the planner in #lecrew?
2. The spends thrift
This is the girl whose default answer is I can’t afford that. Oh let’s go jet skiing. How much is that? $30 using a Groupon … hmm let me think about it! Every suggested activity is met with hesitation on pricing and a lot of reflection goes into the decisions on the activities that she can participate in. Wait, you also want to go clubbing VIP? The way my budget and my bank account is set up …. I don’t know if I can make it. This girl, in weaker groups, can have the most influence on planned activities if left unchecked. That’s why every group needs a baller. Who is a baller? Keep reading! The spends thrift is a good person to have on a trip as she becomes the sanity check on how much money is being spent, which is a good thing. The downside is, she is always counting coins more than enjoying the trip! Are you the spends thrift in your #clique?
3. The baller
This is the girl that makes the most expensive suggestions and doesn’t care about price or whether the rest can afford it. Her suggestions are always the priciest and she may sometimes get upset when the rest don’t want to pay for the activities she considers ‘fun’ and ‘worth doing’. We need to swim with the sharks and record the whole thing! Girl … we are all not balling on your budget. She will be the one asking for the helicopter tour and the cabana at the beach. The baller and the spends thrift naturally go at it with one accusing the other of either not willing to spend enough or spending too much! But the beauty of having a baller in the group is that you at least get to experience one bomb activity that you will be talking about for the rest of the trip and beyond. Are you the baller in your #girlsquad?
4. The free spirit
This is my favorite girl. The planner sends out the date, location and activities and the free spirit says girl sign me up. No questions, no issues, no moaning. The free spirit is down for whatever. She is usually playing peacemaker but in my opinion has the most fun of all the girls as her expectations for a good time are usually met. The free spirit will usually be in the group text but not participate as often as she probably co-signs with the plans for the most part. Everyone usually admires the free spirit's ability to go with the flow. Disagreements and pettiness are what ruin the free spirit’s trip so ensuring that harmony is maintained is key. Are you the free spirit in your #circle?
