It’s Sunday night and you begin to compile the list in your head of all the things you have to do this week. You don’t want to be thinking about it, but you can’t help it and before you know it, you’re running around the house packing your bags for the next morning. Monday arrives and you dash out the door looking like a pack rat with 2-3 bags hanging from your arms: everything all jumbled up inside of them.
I know, women in particular are all too well versed in this struggle because we naturally carry more items than men. With the added stress of living in today’s fast-paced world, we deserve better products that help us accomplish all that we do. Wouldn’t it be great if we could leave the house feeling more organized and prepared? Unfortunately, the one thing that sits at our side through all this craziness, doesn’t accommodate the reality of our lives.
This is why I decided to redesign handbags. Over the past year, I let my entrepreneurial spirit take over and I began creating a collection to suit the needs of today’s women on-the-go. I wanted to create a line that supports the many roles women play in life by combining fashion WITH function. Because why should we have to sacrifice one for the other?
Now, let’s be honest. Deciding to start a business is not the easiest decision. You really have to take stock of exactly how far you’re willing to go and how much you’re willing to take. Especially, when you’re funding your dream, out of your own pocket and still have to pay the bills…yes, the struggle is very real!.
However, I knew I couldn’t let my idea: WORKINGURL Co. go, because I just couldn’t stop thinking about it. Even after 2 months in, it was always on my mind. So after 6 months of designing and conceptualizing the line, I entered an accelerator competition for entrepreneurs. I knew I needed guidance to help me get started. Three months of workshops, mentors, pitches and presentations flew by and I was ready to hit the ground running. I set off to grow my brand and business. From here, I decided the best way to reach the next level was to launch a Kickstarter campaign and produce the first line of WORKINGURL bags: http://kck.st/1UcHIHI
The best part of the campaign is that I get to invite other females to join my journey. I always had a feeling that other women can relate to the struggle of finding the perfect everyday bag. Since the launch of the campaign my assumptions have been validated. Now we #bosschicks can come together to make sure that we never leave the house feeling unprepared, frazzled, and frustrated because of our bags. It’s one less thing we’ll have to add to that ever-running Sunday list.
Three women going through life.
