Have you ever listened to your boss or coworkers talk about a new opportunity, but never mention your name? Or listen to your friends discuss a great idea or event, yet never include you because it’s “probably not your thing”?
Don’t ever allow other’s perception of you deter you from conquering what you want to attain in life. It can be hard to break down the wall, but one thing I’ve learned is to always look at the glass half full and to use every challenge as a means to soar.. The only person standing in front of your goals is yourself. Using other people as an excuse as to why you can’t accomplish something is only detrimental to your personal growth. The worst thing that can happen is that you fail, but like Janet Finch once said, “The phoenix must burn to emerge.”
Who cares if someone doesn’t think you’re qualified or the right fit. The only way to know if that’s a fact or an opinion is to test out their theory---and 9 times out of 10 you’ll prove it to be fiction. Even if everyone else seems against you, you can’t go against yourself. Don’t ever count yourself out. You have to be your own biggest advocate especially when the odds seem stacked against you.
There are so many times I can remember sticking my neck out for myself when no-one else wanted or thought about bringing me to the table. Each and every time, I proved to myself that I was worthy and capable. The times that I let opportunities pass me by, I was told that I wasn’t vocal enough or thought to be introverted or I didn’t seem interested in the opportunity. This was because I let someone else dictate what my path should look like instead of making the decision myself.
Three women going through life.
