Are you just waiting for life to happen? I know this summer our readers have been met with posts from our team ranging from throwing caution to the wind and not saving this summer to posts on the Crop Over festival in Barbados and the One Africa Music festival that took place in New York this year. We at The Fearless Self have covered a wide range of topics and have definitely LIVED this summer. Why? Do yall think that we did too much? Well, let me break this down for you.
We are tired of waiting. Tired of waiting on that boyfriend or squad to get their act together instead of just acting! We got tired of not entirely practicing what we preach. When you work as hard as we do, you realize that sounding busy is lauded as admirable instead of taking the time to actually enjoy where you are in life. One of my favorite quotes by Pastor Andy Thompson is that “God not only knows where you are but when you are”. It’s so important to discern the seasons that you go through.
So, as we rounded off the spring of 2016, we decided to live #fearlessly. It was time to make the jump. Take the plunge. Book the trips we had pinned and carefully placed on our vision boards. It was time to make things happen. Was it only in the form of a trip? No, it was also in the decisions that we made. Each decision (for the most part), was made intentionally. We didn’t just travel. We went where we had always dreamed of going. We didn’t just participate in any party or carnival, we jumped and waved in those that we had been ‘liking’ on Instagram. You know, the one where you see people having an amazing time and part of you aches because you are low key jealous that it isn’t you? Yeah, all those trips and shows we did! And you know what we learned?
Living #fearlessly will always cost you something: our money, friendships, time and even energy but it is always worth it. How have you lived #fearlessly this summer? Have you made any decisions that have made you both scared and excited? Share with us in the comments section below, by email or via our social media outlets!
