![]() When will I finally make it? – Is pretty much the question I ask myself every day. If you are a hustler and dreamer like myself, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. There are times I go out for a career opportunity and I feel confident that I am qualified for the position only to have the rug pulled from under me with rejection. I’m left sitting- doubting my abilities and passions. I begin to question whether my dreams will ever come true. Whether the things I am passionate about will give me the life that I deserve. Every time I hear you need 15 years’ experience for this job or the infamous you need to know somebody that knows somebody’ in order to get your foot through the door, I’m left questioning whether I made a mistake by choosing this path. Seriously, how can someone make it in an economy that is full of nepotism? An economy that won’t even give you the chance to showcase your capabilities? What happened to the good old days when everything was based on individual merits? When you were given chances to prove yourself? Seriously, they tell you to go to school, get the degrees and then the world will be yours. Well, I guess for some this is true, but for the majority of us, we are still fighting and hustling just to get our foot through the door or for someone to open a window for us to crawl through. ![]() If you are going through a similar experience, I leave you with these few words of wisdom that I try to remind myself of daily: do not undervalue yourself and worth! There’s a higher power pulling strings for you, and that’s the only networker that you need. You will make it on your own time, even if you have to haul ass and work a little harder than others. Your train of opportunity will arrive shortly. See you onboard!
