“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
At times, it can be extremely difficult to play the waiting game. Whether you are waiting for that career breakthrough, the love life you’ve been praying for , or to overcome the health conditions that you have been facing. Whatever it is that you are waiting on, it is important to realize that our delay is not our denial.
God will not give you anything you cannot handle or overcome. I know that you have heard this one too many times, but do know that this is true. Similar to you, I’m going through my own setbacks in life; I have turned to the bible to find solace through the story of Joseph. What struck me the most after reading the story of him being sold to the Egyptians, is that Joseph refused to let his circumstances and setbacks shape his outlook on life. He relied on the promises that God had made him, and although it didn’t happen when he thought it would, he never allowed bitterness or self-pity to deter him from his destiny. He chose to use each situation he found himself in--- whether in prison, at home or at Potiphar’s house to do all he could to remain positive, serve God and prepare for his blessings. He allowed the negative situations to give him the courage and strength to keep pushing through. When it was his time- God’s appointed time - Joseph became the ruler of Egypt! I share this with you to affirm the importance of not growing weary, not giving up, and not allowing difficult situations and setbacks to deter you from your purpose, promises and potential blessing.
So if you are like me going through the crazy roller-coaster of life, just remember: a delay is not denial, but a time of preparing you for the promise (I try to remind myself daily of this).
WAIT on the Lord!
The account of Joseph in the Bible is found in Genesis chapters 30-50
