I love interviews. To be honest, I hardly get nervous when interviewing. This skill makes it easy for me to strike up conversation, but what actually makes for a great interview?
Beyond looking the part, which is a whole other conversation, it is important to know what to ask. This is especially crucial as employers like to see that you took an interest in the company beyond the job description - asking questions will help you determine if the job and company is best suited for you!
I have been on both sides of this table. As an interviewer, I really find the most interesting interviews to be those where the interviewee asked questions. On the other hand, it’s important as the person being interviewed, to come armed with questions as this is where you intend to work! On average, we spend more time at work (in an office) than we do at home or with friends, so yeah, the decision of where one works is crucial.
Here are some sure fire questions that I have gathered over the years along with some input from some of my savvy friends that have been deemed important to ask when interviewing.
