Now that the new year has rolled through and you realize that you aren’t where you need to be health wise, it’s time to become a fitness disciple. Who is a disciple and why is that the recommendation? A disciple is a convinced adherent of a school or individual*. So WHY be a disciple? I have one word for you: adherence. You must step up your game when it comes to adherence. Fitness as I’ve come to learn over the years is a marathon. It’s not just showing up for the first 10 Zumba classes in the month and then never going back. Its showing up for the first 10, then the next 200! You need to get to a place where fitness is a part of who you are, and not just what you do.
Why this recommendation? Well, if you clicked on this story, you are either looking for tips on how to become a fitness disciple or you already are and are looking to see if you are doing the right things (or maybe you just love our site and writings and this is part of your reading for the day). To all of you, I say welcome! This recommendation is being put forth because discipline is trickle down. By this I mean that if you are disciplined in your fitness routines, then you are making healthier eating choices, which in turn means that you are hopefully experiencing better health outcomes, which ends up affecting your overall happiness and wellbeing. So, you see – trickle down.
These are our sure-fire ways to ensure your discipleship in fitness is maintained throughout the year:
1. Sign up for group fitness
2. Download fitness apps
3. Have an accountability partner
4. Visit the doctor at least once this year (get a good baseline on where you are and where you should be)
5. Reward yourself with healthful treats and trips
With these in mind, The Fearless Self would like to propose #TheFearlessChallenge to our readers. Tag your comments and images with this hashtag and we can jump in and support you in your fitness goals this year!
