Two thousand and sixteen is finally coming to a close. It seemed like this year was never going to end. It was filled with A LOT, and we can all attest to that. As we wind down the last few days, there are a few things we want to challenge you with for 2017.
Make a mantra
Many of the world’s most successful people have a mantra that they live by. These are words that they repeat everyday to start their day on the right foot. Mantras stem from Buddhism and Hinduism as a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation or a statement or slogan repeated frequently.
Here are three of our favorites:
Now, build your own. All you need is one that rings true to you, that will help jump-start your day.
Make a promise
Every year the masses make resolutions. I am tired of those (I’ve BEEN tired of them). Make a promise to yourself and someone else of something you need to accomplish this year. Mine are in the form of a bucket list that I’d like to complete by my birthday each year. However, your promise could live anywhere. The most important part is that you write it down and say it to someone else. Making a verbal promise makes it real, and saying it to someone else holds you accountable.
Make a decision
Undoubtedly, there is something that you have been tinkering with at least over the past year. Whether it’s letting go of a toxic relationship, starting a business, going on an unfriend/unfollow spree, or telling someone that you love them; make the decision and do it. Holding on to ‘shoulda, coulda, wouldas’ is exhausting and mentally draining - so stop! Decide that you’re going to be more decisive this year because guess what? This isn’t a rehearsal. Decide to take control of your life and do the things that make you happy.
