You know what grinds my gears? People who assume that just because you choose not to share your entire life on Instagram, be it personal or professional - you are automatically labelled as not being “REAL”…
I’m sorry, but that’s what a journal and close confidants are for. No, I will not share what my dating experiences are, who I am in a relationship with, or even why we broke up via social media. No, I will not share my behind the scenes struggles with thousands of people who do not know me! If I am sick, broke, unemployed, broken-hearted, angry, frustrated, hungry, tired, or down on my luck, why is it any of your business to know my day’s ins and outs?! How exactly are you adding to my life or experiences again? How is me refusing to share my entire life on IG or any of my social media platforms your problem? Yes, that’s what I thought!
If I only choose to post about fashion, positive experiences, travel excursions and light-hearted things, dammit that is my prerogative! No, I am not putting on a facade for anyone even though that’s what you would like to think! And yes, my life is far from perfect, but I choose to focus on the positives! Giving you haters the ammunition that you need to be gossipers isn’t going to happen fam!
Some people choose to share their entire life, be it good or bad and that’s great for them, others like myself choose the latter. We consider certain things to be private and sacred and can only be shared with a trusted few. I know we live in a day and age where oversharing on social media platforms is the norm, but I am old fashioned and refuse to conform to this norm. So f*ck your ‘Keeping it REAL’ standards! If you do not like what I post, feel free to hit the unfollow button!
